The coolest Kardashian has taken Kris’s place of riding Bruce. Mason looks awesome. Why do I feel like they stole him from a crib at the Beckham’s? Japan’s Penis Festival swings into action
General views of the annual Kanamara Matsuri, or “Festival of the Steel Phallus”. The Shinto fertility festival is held every year in Kawasaki, Japan, featuring penis-shaped candies, candles, food, and a giant phallic battering ram. Thousands of people flock the shrine each year to join in the giant pink penis parade and have a lick at penis and vagina-shaped lollipops.
Legend has it that there was once a woman in ancient Japan whose vagina was inhabited by a sharp toothed demon who would bite off the penises of her lovers. After having bitten off her husband’s member, she went to see a metalsmith who made her a metal penis to break the demon’s teeth, giving her normal life back.
Today the festival is a tourist attraction, raising awareness of STDs and money to fight HIV.
